Project statement
It’s been more than three decades that I’ve known you—or perhaps all the things I thought I knew about you were merely assumptions. Since I grew up right under your shade, you’ve somehow shaped me into the person I am today.
I don’t know if it’s too late or not, but this time, I dared to make a move and introduce myself to you. Until now, all the information I had about you came from the words of others—written accounts, stories told by elders, and conversations with friends over cups of tea. The desire to know you without any barriers brought me closer.
As I wandered through you, I found myself caught in the rhythm of fleeting moments—activities unfolding in the blink of an eye, demanding that I keep the pace. Yet, amidst the chaos, there were also moments of stillness, where people sat quietly, observing the frenzy around them. While many spaces which I have strolled before felt new and unfamiliar, your concrete side carried a strange sense of familiarity and a common trace where ever-changing wind touched both of our skin. Some parts of you exuded an aura or mystery that words could not fully capture, leaving me in awe of your silent stories.
This journey made me realize a distance we created with you in the name of development, the urge of climbing the social ladder, the unfussy self-centered behaviour in regard to every action relating to you. I hope that even after this unforgivable behavior, we can meet in the future in a place where we can reconcile.
