Where Is My Brother?

By

Diego Muñoz-Zamora

Project statement

Ricardo Troncoso Muñoz, a member of the Revolutionary Left Movement (MIR), was abducted by Chilean intelligence agents on August 15, 1974, in Santiago, Chile. After being held at a secret detention center, he was transferred to the concentration camps Tres y Cuatro Álamos, where he later disappeared. His sister, Myrna Troncoso Muñoz, has now been searching tirelessly for him for 51 years.

At the age of 84, Myrna is still a key figure in the search for detained, disappeared and executed political prisoners in Chile. She has become a heroine of historical memory, justice, and reparations for the victims of the military dictatorship that ravaged Chile from 1973 to 1990.

When political, ideological or economic rhetoric incites attacks on the weak and vulnerable, individuals like Myrna Troncoso Muñoz – and the stories they share – become profoundly necessary.
