The Weight on My Shoulder

Project statement
I know what it feels like to be afraid. In the crowded buses where male hands brush too close, in the streets where eyes follow like shadows, and in rooms where silence feels like the safest option. In Bangladesh, this is what it means to be a girl – to always be on guard, to shrink, to endure.
Watching women practice Taekwondo, Judo and Kendo, I see something different – strength, control and defiance. They do not wait for protection; they become their own guardians. No more helplessness, no more waiting for someone to step in. This is not just about sports, it is about survival. It is about reclaiming our bodies, our voices and our power.
Every woman deserves to feel safe and to stand tall. We should not be afraid anymore. We can choose strength. We can choose to fight.
